Worship with us this Sunday at 10!

Faith Growing. Love Increasing.

What to Expect on a Sunday

We ought always to give thanks to God for you, brothers, as is right, because your faith is growing abundantly,
and the
love of every one of you for one another is increasing.

2 Thessalonians 1:3

When you come on a Sunday morning, you’ll be greeted warmly and genuinely. As people gather, you’ll notice prayer and a real sense of expectation in the room. We believe God meets us when we come to seek Him together.

Our worship is focused on God. We want to minister to Him first, trusting that as we seek His Kingdom, He will minister to us. Our style is expressive and yet reverent. It’s normal for people to share a testimony, pray, or offer a short word of encouragement during the service. We believe that we don’t all need to be loud or all need to be quiet. We need each other. Preaching is often expositional, meaning we open the Bible and take time to explain what it says.

We believe in families worshiping together, so the service begins with everyone in the room. This is an important way for kids to learn what worship looks like, by watching their parents and others who love the Lord. After that, children through 4th grade are released for a time of teaching and interactive learning.

As for dress, some people dress up and some come casual. No one is checking.

What we believe.

Plainfield Christ Fellowship affirms the Apostles’ Creed as a foundational statement of faith. This ancient creed provides a clear starting point for the question, “What do you believe?”

If you’d like to learn more about our particular convictions or emphases—such as Scripture, the sacraments, theology, social issues or our style of worship—our pastor would be glad to talk with you.

We believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended into hell; on the third day he rose again from the dead, ascended into heaven, sits at the right hand of God the Father almighty; thence he will come to judge the living and the dead; We believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic* Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the flesh, and eternal life. Amen.

*This doesn’t refer to the Roman Catholic church but rather “catholic” in its original sense, meaning universal or according to the whole. So, we believe in one global church – the body of Christ.
