Greetings!
I’d like to invite you to join me and our congregation on the Thursday evening before Sukkot as we celebrate and honor my parents for their 20 years of faithful ministry at Plainfield Christ Fellowship—and nearly 30 years of service as Senior Pastor in the Indianapolis area.
My parents founded our church in November 2005, just shy of 20 years ago. Our first Sunday service was in their bonus room above their garage in Whiteland. At that time, our church was aptly named Tabernacle Fellowship, and following my dad’s leadership, our church moved with God through many stages and places of worship, ultimately leading us to Plainfield. Our congregation has been blessed to have a courageous, principled, humble, and Spirit-led man of God leading and feeding the flock. We’ve also been blessed with a Pastor’s wife who is a never-give-up prayer warrior. She carried the burden of our church week after week with grace and steadfastness and has been (and continues to be) a faithful friend and prayer partner to many. My parents taught all of us how to love Jesus in the face of difficulty and seek His Kingdom above all else.
When I became Senior Pastor in February, I stated that there would be a time this year devoted to celebrating and honoring my parents for their labor and faithfulness in pastoring Plainfield Christ Fellowship for the last 20 years. I believe the time has come for us to show our appreciation together. Let me tell you my plan…
On Thursday, October 9 (the day before Sukkot begins), we’ll host a surprise dinner celebration on the church property under the big tent. Since we’ll already be setting up for the Sukkot Ingathering that week, we should be able to keep it under wraps. I’ll arrange to get my dad home that afternoon and invite him to what he thinks is just a nice dinner in Plainfield. Pray for me :). When we drive onto the property, the congregation of PCF—along with friends from across the country—will be there waiting to welcome them. The evening will include musical selections, a catered dinner, and special presentations as we honor their years of ministry.
