Ingathering is a biblical term referring to the gathering of the harvest late in the year. As it says in Exodus 23:16:

"You shall keep the Feast of Ingathering at the end of the year, when you gather in from the field the fruit of your labor."

Ingathering celebrates the harvest—not only from the agricultural fields but also in the field of souls. It is a time for God's people to gather together, rejoice, and celebrate His goodness!

Sukkot is the Hebrew word often translated as "booths." It is a Jewish celebration that is often referred to as either the Feast of Tabernacles or the Feast of Ingathering. The celebration recognizes how the Lord “tabernacled” with His people for forty years as they journeyed through the wilderness. It is also a celebration of the latter harvest.

This ingathering will be an outdoor, camp meeting style event. There will be a tent for meeting and another for hospitality and fellowship. Hospitality is a Sukkot tradition, with people visiting each other in the sukkah and eating together. We will share meals together alongside worship, prayer, and the preaching of the Word of God. We are celebrating the Kingdom of God in our midst.

The Sukkot Ingathering is hosted by Plainfield Christ Fellowship in partnership with Hand to the Plow Ministries. Our Senior Leaders, Jerry Keller and Steve Coder, will be joined by Taylor Keller and several other esteemed ministers and guests for this special event.

All done "decently and in order" (1 Corinthians 14:40) and under the direction of the Holy Spirit.

This will be an all-outdoor event. Average high temperatures at that time in Indiana are around 62º and lows can be in the 40s. We will update everyone on the weather forecast as we get closer but plan to dress in keeping with the season. Comfortable shoes and thick socks are highly recommended!

A meal will be served following each service.

At Plainfield Christ Fellowship, we cherish our elder brothers and sisters, the Jewish people, and recognize them as the root that supports us as branches (Romans 11:18). While we don't require observance of the feasts as commanded in the Old Testament (Colossians 2:16-17), we love to remember and celebrate the Hebrew festivals. We believe these festivals are important windows into God's plans and purposes and remain highly relevant on His calendar.

There will be no childcare provided for the sessions. All kids will be blessed to remain with their parents throughout the ingathering. We are also working toward having a special time for the elementary age children following lunch Saturday afternoon.
